Post-Doctoral Position - Translational Imaging
Baltimore, Maryland
Employer: University of Maryland, Baltimore
Industry: Postdoctoral Fellows
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Full-Time
Job Description
Description: Applicants are invited to fill a postdoctoral research fellow position within the Translational Imaging Group of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. The selected candidate will work on federally funded projects associated with neuroimaging of traumatic brain injury and other neurodegenerative disorders including neuromodulation using image-guided focused ultrasound. The candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary research group for preclinical imaging with opportunity to gain a variety of translational research skills, including advanced image processing, data analysis, and novel imaging techniques, such as MRguided Focus Ultrasound. Opportunities also exist to learn about clinical research as translation of pre-clinical research to the clinic is one of the main charters of this group.
Requirements: The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. degree from an accredited university in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, neuroscience with interest in imaging sciences or related field. The successful candidate will be self-driven, strongly motivated researcher with knowledge of MR physics. Working knowledge of computer languages (e.g. Matlab) and statistical analysis software for imaging processing of structural and functional MRI data (e.g., SPM, FSL, ImageJ) are highly desirable. Experience in performing small animal imaging is also desirable.
The Core for Translational Research in Imaging @ Maryland (C-TRIM) within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology & Nuclear Medicine provides comprehensive imaging services for both pre-clinical and human imaging. The small animal MRI facilities available include three Bruker Biospin MRI scanners (3T, 7T, and 9.4T) and the human imaging services include Siemens Prisma 3T, Siemens mMR Biograph 3T PET/MR system and a GE Discovery 750w 3T system.
Interested candidates should send an email to Rao Gullapalli, Ph.D ( ) with a cover letter highlighting key qualifications and experience, current CV and contact information for three referees.
