The Mohi lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms of leukemia. In this role, the successful candidate will utilize cellular and animal models to identify and validate genetic and epigenetic basis of leukemia. The successful candidate must work independently and ethically, document all research data appropriately, assist graduate students in the lab, apply for independent funding where applicable, and publish data in qualified journals.
Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates will possess a recent PhD or MD/PhD degree in Biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology or related field. Candidates should have a proven track record in research with first author publications in reputed journals. Experience in flow cytometry and animal handling is preferred.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
The selected applicant will be required to complete a background check and health screening prior to their first day of employment per University policy.
