Description: About the Position:

This position is a part of the Power Electronics Hardware Development Team, which is tasked with developing new hardware for the electrification of combat vehicles. The team is responsible for the design, build, control development of, and integration of new electrical power generation, conversion, distribution, and energy storage hardware. The team is also responsible for the operation of the High Voltage Conversion & Electrical Storage (HVC&ES) Research and Development Laboratory.

This position is for those with a strong background in the electrical design, control, and integration of power electronics hardware. Team members will be exposed to multiple engineering disciplines related to vehicle electrification.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Work with a small team to assist in the design, build, and test of new vehicle electrical power hardware from card level and power-stage to controls development.
  • Support the integration of new hardware into military vehicles.
  • Assist in the development and realization of power electronics control theory.
  • Lead small teams in the testing of newly developed power electronics hardware.
  • Create and execute test plans a generate detailed test reports.
  • Support the development, control, and testing of vehicle power systems.
  • Expand the capabilities of the HVC&ES Laboratory by improving component testing and evolving the laboratories Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test beds.
  • Mastering development tools such as: PSpice, Simulink and Embedded Coder, Mentor Graphics PADS (or equivalent), various DSP/uC ICDs using C/C++.
  • Mastering testing tools such as: CAN J1939, CANOpen, Python, GUI development, MatLab, other data acquisition hardware.
  • Controls development for electrical machines as part of hybrid electric vehicles.
  • Participate in laboratory training
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (Masters in Electrical Engineering a plus)
  • Experience of 5-7 years
  • Expertise in control of electrical machines and drives.
  • Background in power electronics hardware, controls development, and HIL testing.
  • Experience with DC/DC converter design and control.
  • Familiarity with CAD (Solid Works, Creo, AutoDesk, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Military Standards for electrical hardware.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Atlassian Confluence
