Summary: This is a hybrid position supporting Uplift's PreK program including teaching assistant and receptionist responsibilities. This role will provide classroom assistance in addition to assistance with operations, clerical and receptionist duties to ensure the efficient operation of the PreK program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Teacher Aide: 70%
  • Assist in classroom when necessary (naptime, breaks, additional support, etc.)
  • Performs any combination of following duties in classroom to assist teaching staff
  • Distributes teaching materials to students, such as textbooks, workbooks, or paper and pencils.
  • Maintains order within school and on school grounds.
  • Operates learning aids, such as film and slide projectors and tape recorders.
  • Assist with in-classroom meals including breakfast, lunch and snack service daily
  • Work closely with campus leadership team
  • Attend all required training for PreK
  • Assist with daily scholar drop off and pick up process
  • Other duties as assigned
Receptionist/Program Operations Support: 30%
  • Aid public, staff and students as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all PreK regulations and support with gathering of state-required PreK documentation including but not limited to, parent engagement records, PreK professional development agendas/sign-in sheets, etc.
  • Maintains security by following campus safety procedures
  • Be responsive to parent needs and encourage parent engagement
  • Support daily attendance process and attendance challenges (phoning parents of absent scholars, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish required
  • Minimum two (2) yeas experience as Administrative Assistant in a similar position preferred
  • Early childhood experience preferred, but not required

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form and be able to set priorities. This individual must possess the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment requires close proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.
