BASIC FUNCTIONS:

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Multi-Language Enrichment

SUMMARY: Assist assigned teacher with the instruction and management of students to enable a more efficient instructional program.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works full-time in the Pre-Kindergarten program.
  2. Participates in daily and long-range planning with the classroom teachers and other staff members.
  3. Assists with classroom routines and daily instruction.
  4. Works with individual children, small or large groups.
  5. Assists teachers with all in-school and out-of-school activities such as field trips and outdoor learning experiences.
  6. Assists with promoting a safe learning environment.
  7. Participates in periodic assessment of children through team meetings.
  8. Contributes to instructional activities by utilizing own special talents and abilities.
  9. Participates in meetings to plan appropriate activities based on the needs of the students.
  10. Maintains daily logs that reflect work with individual children and small groups.
  11. Participates in professional and staff development activities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises none.

Salary commensurate with education and experience

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally. Frequently required to stand and move throughout the room or facility. Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl; climb; balance, and drive. Occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regularly exposed to such environmental conditions outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district.
