  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment Early Childhood Teaching Certification (Gen.   • Valid Bilingual Certification For bilingual classroom assignments (stipend available upon requirements completion)
  • Valid Texas ESL Certification For monolingual classroom assignments teaching EB/ESL students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FBISD program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals and organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theory
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • If teaching a foreign language, proficiency in oral and written communication in that language; if teaching choral music, ability to demonstrate proper techniques (singing) is highly desirable; if teaching instrumental music classes, proficiency in one or more musical instruments; for both choral and instrumental music teachers, excellent hearing and ability to determine pitch and tone variations; if teaching in vocational trade, including business trades, journey-level proficiency in that trade is with on the job journey, lead, or supervisory experience highly desirable

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Additional Information
  • This position may require travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends. Work may include noisy and/or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood, pre-teen or teen illnesses may occur.
