Microsoft's MAIA architecture team is looking for outstanding Performance Analysis Architects to help analyze, and accelerate AI application performance on Microsoft's custom AI accelerators

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of hardware architecture for High-Speed Network Interface Cards( NIC), networking interfaces, and protocol processing pipelines across multiple SOCs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in High-Speed Data Transfer Fabric protocols to ensure high efficiency in large-scale networks.
  • Understand and address Network Topology and System-level design challenges to support high-performance scale-up and scale-out networks.
  • Design and implement >100G Ethernet-based interface architectures, leveraging substantial experience in the field.
  • Apply an understanding of L1 to L4 layers of the Network Protocol stack to guide design and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Analyze and address End-to-End Transport Protocol Architecture challenges for large-scale networks, including congestion, flow control, topologies, load balancing, traffic patterns, and uniform latency.
  • Develop and utilize models or simulation tools to model protocol and architecture ideas effectively.
  • Work comfortably with diverse and large teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate across functional teams (Architecture, Design, Verification, Validation, System, Software, Lab Bring-Up) to integrate and support comprehensive solutions.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • 9+ years of related technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience
    • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Network Interface Card hardware architecture and design, including the development of high-speed Network Interface Cards, networking interfaces, and protocol processing pipelines for various Systems on Chips
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in relevant CS/EE/CE
  • Background in deep neural network training, and inference workload optimizations
  • Experience in architecture and workload analysis on GPUs
  • Hardware Architecture development experience of High-Speed NIC, Networking Interface and Protocol Processing pipeline for multiple SOCs
  • Working knowledge of different kinds of High-Speed Data transfer Fabric protocols for large scale networks with high efficiency
  • Understanding of various Network Topology and System level challenges to design
  • Software programming using Python/C++
Silicon Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
