Objectives of this Role:

  • Ensure Operational Integrity: Maintain and troubleshoot internal and external plumbing systems to ensure all components are functioning efficiently and safely.
  • Utility Coordination: Manage and coordinate utility locate requests, ensuring accurate identification and communication with relevant parties.
  • Support Water Production: Collaborate with the water production team, gaining hands-on experience to work towards obtaining a Class C Water license.
  • Division Engagement: Meet with internal requestors to assess and implement plumbing system modifications, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
  • Maintain Sewer Systems: Oversee and maintain the proper flow and operation of the Institute's sewer systems, preventing disruptions and ensuring compliance with safety standards.


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Plumbing Infrastructure: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on campus plumbing systems, including both underground utilities and internal plumbing to ensure proper functioning. Identifying any potential issues and planning for necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Utility Valve Exercising Program: Execute the monthly tasks within the annual schedule for the underground utility valve exercising program, ensuring valves are in proper working order and documenting any maintenance needs.
  • Monitor Sewer Systems: Conduct daily checks of sewer outfalls to confirm proper flow and address any issues immediately.
  • Assist with Division Plumbing Requests: Respond promptly to plumbing service requests from various divisions, ensuring efficient and effective resolution.
  • Monitor Water Usage: Record daily water meter readings, analyze data for anomalies, and report findings to management.


Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Class C Water License and Journeyman Plumber License preferred.
  • Shift work required.
  • 5+ years: Plumbing Systems Expertise: maintaining and troubleshooting internal and external plumbing systems, including underground utilities.
  • 3 years: Utility Coordination: managing and coordinating utility locate requests, with a strong understanding of underground utility systems.
  • 2 years: Water Systems Knowledge: water production systems and working towards or holding a Class C Water license.
  • 3 years: Safety and Compliance: application of safety protocols and compliance standards related to plumbing and utility systems.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
