Principal Photonics Engineer - Advanced Technology

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and demonstrate RF Photonic systems needed to execute US Government research and development contracts
  • Write reports detailing test results to stakeholders, including government sponsors
  • Perform forward looking company sponsored research and development projects
  • Lead new business proposal efforts


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities, along with confident presentation skills
  • Works well in a group environment to include engineers, technicians, and support personnel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will have working experience in the theory, application, design, and implementation of RF photonic systems.
  • Experience with systems operating at >10GHz
  • Hands on test and data analysis experience for systems that span both RF and optical domains


Additional design and characterization experience with one or more of the following is desirable:
  • Mode locked fiber lasers
  • Optical frequency combs
  • Photonic integrated circuits
  • Optical fiber based components and sub-systems
