What's the job?

The Principal Process Engineer will be responsible for process management, including technical, process, production, and maintenance recommendations for specific assignment within the hot end process operations group, including batch, furnace, binder, forehearth, fiberizing, forming, washwater; and Insulsafe hot end and cold processes.

In this role, this position will support / lead World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production and processing methods and controls to meet customer-based quality standard in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Insulation's Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives (VMVO). Through the application of process engineering fundamentals and advances process control tools, this position will ensure processes are centered, capable and in control; reduce process variations; and resolve special causes variation.

As a continuous manufacturing facility producing a variety of insulation products, this position interacts daily with hourly and salaried employees working on the hot end operations. They will work closely with shift supervisors, maintenance technicians, regional support specialists.

This position will require a safety mindset and the ability to not only analyze data, but troubleshoot while working closely with team members in a union environment; to support sustainable solutions with the concept of improving the production process.

What do you bring?

The ideal candidate enjoys learning and has the ability to be curious about finding solutions to challenges. They must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, since they will be interact with all levels of the organization. Key skills that would be supporting the team initiatives involve:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Chemical or a similar discipline in Engineering) is required
  • 5 years' + of continuous manufacturing work environment
  • Glass Furnace and Melting experience strongly preferred
  • 5 years' + of applied professional work experience in a continuous manufacturing work environment.
  • Experience with, Minitab, Excel, MS PowerBI highly preferred
  • Experience with 5S and Continuous Improvement Methodology
  • Extensive problem solving and technical acumen
  • Good interpersonal skills, planning, organizing and prioritizing are critical to the role
  • A willingness to be curious, teachable, and be a contributor to operational success - to be able to share your knowledge and improve team collaboration.
  • Be available for on call and working weekends and evenings if necessary.
