SUMMARY

The Principal Engineer role is responsible for the effective guidance and implementation of multiple Ansys' internal software platforms.

Principal Engineers are involved heavily during early stages of a software development or implementation project, to guide delivery teams in the most effective way to design the core application, its integrations, and the underlying platform. "Effective" means, in this context, that the application complies with technical standards; is reliable, stable, and performs well; and that it can be extended over time in a cost-effective way.

Principal Engineers are technical leaders in their assigned areas and help to mentor peers and junior team members in those technologies. They are broad-background technologists who also go deep in one or more platforms. This role is an individual contributor role that has broad oversight over other engineers, and/or developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evangelizes reference implementations, technical patterns and blueprints, and technical standards for assigned platforms
  • Assess and develop high level design requirements and communicate them to development teams
  • Produce Architecture/high level design documents and other artifacts
  • Assess delivery team's detailed specifications and as-built solutions against design requirements
  • Leads and provides technical direction to the team, to resolve complex issues
  • Can design solutions that optimize for features, time, cost, and/or quality depending on the context. Understands trade-offs and can articulate rationale and decisions.
  • Evaluate possible application performance bottlenecks at early stages of the implementation & recommend remedial measures
  • Facilitates technical brainstorming or design-review sessions
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and capabilities in order to prepare and respond to customer needs and expectations.
  • Provide in-depth technical and systems consultation to technical management to ensure alignment with the Enterprise Architecture

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS degree or greater in a technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in technical roles
  • 8+ years of experience architecting and designing systems as an Architect, Lead Engineer or similar role, in an enterprise
  • 5+ Years of hands on experience in developing solutions using Salesforce platform over the full lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of business applications in a larger enterprise context
  • Experience in both waterfall and Agile systems development lifecycles
  • Must-have technology requirements:
    • Prior experience as a software developer using two or more languages and frameworks
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including infrastructure setup and network/security configuration
    • Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying web services using REST/JSON/SOAP/XML
    • Demonstrated success implementing DevOps processes
  • Demonstrated strong skills with:
    • Team collaboration

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing web services using REST/JSON/SOAP/XML
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including infrastructure setup and network/security configuration
  • Experience with application/data integration tools such as Mulesoft, Informatica, or SnapLogic
  • Experience with a data modeling tool such as ERstudio or Erwin
