Overview

Reporting to the Director of Machine Learning Engineering the role requires expertise in Semantic Modeling to design and development of a unified semantic layer framework for the Data and ML Platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, programming, and Semantic Modeling and will be passionate about leveraging data to drive business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop a scalable modular semantic layer framework, which can be seamlessly integrated with various Data and AI/ML components across the organization
  • Create logical and physical data models, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and performance optimization.
  • Participate in data profiling and data quality assessment activities to identify data anomalies and resolve them.
  • Establish the Governance processes and mechanisms to maintain the integrity, consistency and accuracy of the semantic layer over time.
  • Provide training and support to the wider engineering and business teams to facilitate the adoption and effective utilization of the semantic layer.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance the semantic layer to address evolving business requirements and technological advances.
  • Collaborate with the enterprise architecture, data architecture, and AI/ML teams to ensure the semantic layer is aligned with the organization's overall data and technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on semantic models to meet evolving business needs.


Minimum Qualifications

Experience level
  • 7+ Years of Experience with a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Framework development and budling Semantic Layers to solve complex business use cases.

Technical Skills
  • Proven experience working as a Semantic Modeler, Data Modeler, or similar role, with expertise in Knowledge graphs, Ontology and Taxonomy
  • Experience in working with petabyte scale data sets and developing semantic layer solutions in Databricks, Snowflake or similar large platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of database concepts, SQL, NOSQL, and performance optimization techniques to model and access all data-types (structured, semi and unstructured data).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Business Objects is a plus.

Soft Skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to switch gears from summary view for leadership to hands-on dialogue with Data Engineers and Data Analysts.
  • Proactive mindset towards driving data architecture choices that enable business-wide usage of data and data products
