This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Greenwich Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Privacy Analyst participates in risk assessment of surveillance activities and other monitoring strategies to assess HIPAA compliance. Conduct or assist in internal privacy compliance investigations and is responsible for assessing, communicating and remediating patient privacy risks. Ensures privacy monitoring is performed effectively and timely, follows established procedures in accordance with data security standards, utilizes various systems to perform routine and complaint driven privacy surveillance. Support the development, management, modification and summary of tracking systems and databases for privacy related investigations and privacy metrics. Coordinate effectively with various departments, develop and prepare coordinated responses and ensure consistency and uniformity in the application of UC San Diego policies. Support activities of the implantation of the Compliance Work Plan. Represent the Privacy Program during investigation meetings, committees, taskforce meetings, training and presentations, based on organizational needs. Create and maintain a thorough process to monitor privacy legislation and laws. Contribute to the development of privacy training materials and the delivery of privacy training to multiple audiences. Updates and maintains privacy files and spreadsheets and is responsible for other administrative duties as assigned. Special assignments as requested to identify, understand and resolve privacy issues. Other projects and duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
  • Experience and proven success in demonstrating knowledge of privacy compliance requirements and reporting guidelines from all relevant clinical program regulatory bodies. Familiarity with the clinical and operational implications involved.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of information privacy laws, access, release of information and release control technologies.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience of compliance related issues in healthcare privacy.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
