Job Description Summary

Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible required. If not certified, must obtain certification within the first year of employment. One year experience in performing ultrasound diagnostic procedures preferred.

Job Description

Position Purpose

Performs ultrasound procedures at the entry level requiring knowledge of anatomical positioning and

physiology. Must be able to perform high quality ultrasound examination for interpretation by a physician on

children, adolescents and adults.

Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications)

Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Certification by the American

Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible required. If not certified, must

obtain certification within the first year of employment. One year experience in performing ultrasound

diagnostic procedures preferred.

Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous)

Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually. Ability to use hand/power tools. Ability to work in dusty areas. Must possess excellent hand to eye coordination. Additional New Requirements: Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, equipment as required.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Work Experience: 5 years for support or 0-2 years for professional
Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
