Job Duties

Facilitate statewide Cognitive Community Staff Trainings, as well as Skills Building Training for staff. Offer technical assistance to the Intensive Reentry Programs. To ensure that staff working within the Reentry Programs are performing programming and therapeutic interventions consistent with Evidence Based Practices.

Supervises a specialized caseload of high-risk inmates; performs investigations, casework and administrative services. Effectively applies evidence-based practices including effective communication skills, principles, and techniques to promote internal change for the probationer. Collaborates with probationer, district, and community resources to develop and manage individualized treatment plans. Make home and community contacts in accord with case needs and supervision plans; prepare Pre-sentence Investigations, sentencing guidelines, and other reports as assigned in a timely manner; testify and provide sentencing recommendations to the court/attorney. Emphasis on coaching and mentoring of all line probation officers, covering vacancies, providing training for new staff, and reviewing presentence reports for the district.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver's license. Knowledge of corrections operations, both prison and community corrections, substance abuse treatment theories and techniques, working knowledge of therapeutic and cognitive community operations, assessment, program design and evaluation. Ability to effectively observe, analyze, identify program needs and communicate needs for improvements to program administrators. Ability to develop and follow through on work plans. Ability to work at all levels of the agency to accomplish goals. Ability to train staff in Cognitive Interventions and Substance Abuse treatment issue, therapeutic community operations.

Additional Considerations

Experience in corrections, Cognitive programming, substance abuse treatment and community model programs.
