Job Duties

Provide day-to-day supervision and case management services to a specialized
caseload of adult offenders, serve as Supervisor/ Team Lead, and will provide guidance and advice to the staff members. Actively applies evidence-based practices including effective communication skills, principles, and techniques to promote internal change within the offender while resolving complex case management issues. Conduct home and community contacts in accordance with case needs, case plans and DOC and Unit Policy and Procedures. Prepare Pre-sentence Investigations, sentencing guidelines, and other reports as assigned in a timely manner; testify and provide sentencing recommendations to the court/attorney. Complete administrative tasks to include but not limited to case assignments and make recommendations after assessing client risks and needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver's license. Considerable experience working in a probation and parole setting. Considerable knowledge of the theories and practices of social casework; treatment methods; human behavior tendencies; socio-economic group characteristics; purposes, procedures, and functions of pertinent Virginia codes and correctional systems; counseling; case management and service delivery techniques; crisis intervention techniques. Demonstrated ability to lead, evaluate the work of officers and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to interact with offenders and the public; organize and implement casework services, supervision. Ability to initiate independent actions and carry out assignments with minimal supervision; and intervene in crisis situations; develop and manage interagency relationships.

Additional Considerations

Advanced knowledge in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology/Social Work, Criminal Justice, or English or equivalent training and/or experience.
