Job Duties

Position provides day-to-day supervision to probationers who require both intensive and regular probation/parole/post-release supervision. Assesses the criminogenic and treatment needs of the client. Actively applies evidence based practices including effective communication skills, principles, and techniques to promote internal change within the probationer. Collaborates with probationer, district, and community resources to develop and manage individualized treatment plans. Makes home and community contacts in accordance with case needs and supervision plans; prepares Pre-sentence Investigations, sentencing guidelines, and other reports as assigned in a timely manner; testify and provide sentencing recommendations to the court/attorney. Emphasis on coaching and mentoring of all line probation officers, covering vacancies, OJT for new staff, and review of all presentence reports for the district.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid operator's license. Considerable experience in the following: Individual counseling/casework with adults; adult correctional institutional work (especially in treatment services), or juvenile probation and aftercare work; administrative and management; writing/presentence reports to official or administrative entities; interviewing people for the purpose of gathering information; planning and directing projects; and teaching. Extensive working knowledge of the adult criminal justice system, case management and counseling techniques. Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with staff, offenders, community resources, and the general public. Ability to manage time and prioritize work assignments to meet required timelines and goals. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Additional Considerations

Advanced knowledge in the criminal justice and/or other human services field. Awareness of Evidence Based Practices and Reentry initiatives. Experience with direct delivery of human services, including, at considerable experience of related probation and parole practices. Skilled in Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook, Work and Excel.
