The Role
The process engineer is responsible for developing and sustaining robust processes across the multidisciplinary organization. The process engineer will standardize analysis/reporting practices and continuously improve operational excellence by developing a robust analysis methodology and reporting systems necessary to measure key performance indicators throughout the organization. The engineer will champion the business data analysis and provide the most efficient and effective reporting and insights to the leadership team.
The process engineer will support multi-disciplinary organizations in standardizing business practices and Visual Management. The engineer needs to understand how the team's business process impacts other internal teams at Tesla to ensure the entire team is aligned with Tesla's mission.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be experienced in process development, process sustaining, and analytics. Additionally, you must be effective in working on a project basis and be a strong communicator.


Responsibilities
  • Own process improvements across the entire organization
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and 5S initiatives
  • Act as a database and system expert, provide support to the users from key business organization on related applications, operations processes, and operational reports
  • In-depth analysis on business processes and related data including KPIs, Labor, Opex, etc.
  • Develop and standardize data analysis methodology and reporting
  • Develop tools and dashboards to facilitate business processes and increase productivity
  • Build ad hoc reports and analyses based on requests from the leadership
  • Ensure consistency, reliability, scalability and quality of all standard reports
  • Understand and influence strategic goals, customer needs, and business objectives
  • Vet business process changes by clearly defining business impact and success metrics with the leadership
  • Maintain close partnerships with leaders and stakeholders within the organization and other internal teams at Tesla
  • Effectively communicate actionable insights to all levels of the organization with varying degree of data science understanding and backgrounds


Requirements
  • BS/MS Degree on Chemical/Materials/Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Skilled with common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Power point, Visio, MiniTab, etc)
  • Knowledge of process development, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), & FMEA fundamentals are desired
  • Intelligent Risk taking, Integrated thinking, strong leadership, strong problem solving, and technical communication skills a MUST.
  • Positively influence others through strong collaborative and communicative skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and navigate through an ambiguous environment; enjoy challenges
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Passion for Tesla's products and belief in Tesla's mission to accelerate the transition toward sustainable energy
  • Advanced knowledge of programming language (SQL, R, Python) is a plus
  • Proficient in tools/platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, MS Excel, Matplotlib or Seaborn to represent data in a visual format that's easy to understand
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality work with great attention to detail
  • Experience of managing cross-functional stakeholders, removing roadblocks, and delivering results
  • Proficient in creating, managing, and prioritizing changes in JIRA

    • Expected Compensation

      $76,000 - $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
