The Paint team is hiring a Process Engineer to support Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas. Our Paint Process Engineers are technical subject matter experts of their assigned process. They will be expected to support the most effective method(s) of processing while improving cycle times, reducing downtime, lowering cost, and driving improvements in overall Paint quality to ensure the continued performance of the process.


Responsibilities
  • Understand assigned process area and associated equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment and automation when required and be able to effectively handle containment situations
  • Ensure assigned process is capable of meeting specified requirements
  • Assess and analyze current processes and drive improvement projects for Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost
  • Ensure critical process parameters are properly documented and tracked using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies
  • Ensure appropriate TPM systems are in place and appropriate actions taken to maintain the facility in good operating condition
  • Establish, maintain, and ensure compliance to the process control plan per PFMEA
  • Interact with the Quality team to correct, contain, and resolve product quality concerns
  • Support new model/product/material introductions in coordination with Design Engineering, New Product Introduction team, Quality, and other teams as needed
  • Support and guide Technicians in day-to-day operations of their process


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing/ Industrial, Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with sealer application and manual robotic applications
  • Experience with sealer Betafoam application
  • Experience with sealer Liquid Applied Sound Deadener (LASD) application
  • Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to identify and drive non-standard solutions to solve manufacturing constraints
  • Comfortable providing clear and focused technical guidance to outside Engineering resources, as well as the Production teams
  • Ability to work in rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with internal groups and outside vendors
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Catia, or Solid Works is a plus
