Summary

The entry level Process Engineer reports to the Process Engineering Manager and is trained to be an essential team member responsible for the improvement of line processes through redesign and modification of tooling and fixtures as well as process reviews to target areas for improvement.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsible for crankshaft machining process improvement
  • Planning and execution of special projects
  • Providing maintenance support
  • Documentation of PFMEA, SAP, and Process Sheets

Specific Responsibilities of the Job
  • Responsible for redesign or modifications of existing tooling and fixtures
  • Conduct prerelease design studies ad process reviews to ensure efficient crankshaft manufacturing methods are implemented
  • Design of crankshaft manufacturing layouts
  • Act as liaison between manufacturing, quality, sales and customer service
  • Participate in process improvement, cost reduction, and capital expenditure projects
  • Utilize and implement lean techniques such as 5S, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.
  • Daily tracking of tooling and consumables used
  • Conduct PFMEAs
  • Walks plant floor addressing issues and working with operators to improve efficiency
  • Offering maintenance downtime support
  • Account for scrapped parts and parts in quality hold
  • Address safety aspects of the line and where process improvements can improve safety
  • Make necessary drawings and measurements
  • Create work instructions
  • Other responsibilities and projects as specified

  • Cost effectiveness and timeliness of special projects
  • Cycle time reduction and achieving line capacity targets

Essential Functions
  • Proficient in English Language
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Walking in a manufacturing setting with multiple stairs and inclines

Qualifications

Education/Credentials/Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems Engineering or related field required
  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering position in machining preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of material science, jig fixture design, programming, machine operation, metallurgy
  • Understanding of blueprint reading and GD & T interpretation
  • Knowledge of machine tooling
  • Understanding of process capability analysis
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Ability to use and navigate machine controlling software
