JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES)
- Responsible for the mechanical aspects of the projects including facilities preparation, equipment design and equipment installation .
- Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improve ergonomics .
- Engineer solutions that comply with ISO 14001 and EHSinitiatives.
- Interface with all engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D departments to ensure accuracy of project design target details .
- Provide technical support to Production and Maintenancedepartments .
- Willingness to learn business metrics such as STR attainment, load, conversion costs, etc and how they impact profitability .
- Support Stick Production department in achieving safety, quality, attainment and cost targets .
- Knowledge of wire drawing, chemical processing, and extruding is a plus.
- Experience working & interacting with contractors, consultants, and vendors/suppliers as part of prototyping and development of process improvements .
- Experience or familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts is aplus.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's strategy .
BASICREQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relatedfield .
- Minimum 5 years professionalexperience .
- Apply practical process knowledge with hands on approach to production troubleshooting, installations, andtesting .
- Able to create and modify mechanical drawings utilizing established standards utilizing SolidEdge CAD software . Training can be provided as needed.
- Develop mechanical improvements and tooling design for existing machinery soliciting observations from Operations, Maintenance and Engineering .
- Investigate product warranty reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information andtrends
- Develop and recommend equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery, equipment, and tooling into the manufacturing process .
- Monitor and evaluate production parameters including but not limited to: scrap generation, identify ways to reduce scrap and ensure product quality standards .
- Author operationalprocedures .
- Work as a collaborative team member or team leader on strategicprojects .
- Work under general supervision with few direct instructions . Carries out routine and semi - routine tasksindependently .
- Must be willing to periodically work off -shifts to support Production trials.
