What you get to do in this role:
  • Buyer-Commodity Specialist/Mgr.: Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  • Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise wide systems.
  • Participates in maximizing the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information.
  • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g., materials, components, equipment and services).
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
  • May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
  • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  • Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.


Skills

In order to qualify for and be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, supply chain, operations management, or industrial engineering.
  • 3 years supply chain related functions, preferably having tech sourcing experiences
  • Experience with ERP (SAP and BPC), in a medium to large organization (required)
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to influence without authority vertically and horizontality throughout the organization and with cross-functional teams
  • Excel and financial modeling skills. Ability to create and perform analyses of large amounts of data.
  • Business analysis skills, with the ability to see implications and provide consultative solutions and recommendations.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

  • Based on the job description, what are the must have non-negotiable items that a candidate must have to be successful in this role? Need to find someone that has end to end procurement experience in indirect purchasing (preferably) (i.e., contracting, purchase orders, working cross functionally) Someone with a positive personality, able to switch gears based on priorities. I need someone that does not need micromanaging. Reporting and data analysis is not necessary.
  • What backgrounds/skills can we be more flexible with that can be learned on the job? Degree is not necessary.
  • Does this position require to sit onsite or travel to an SN office? Remote
  • Does this person have to work in a specific time zone? (e.g. - If a person on the East Coast can work PST, is that ok?) No specific time zone but we need consistent working hours. We are global and remote team.
