At DSV Road Transport, the Procurement manager will oversee the purchasing and selling of trucks, trailers, and fuel for the Road Transport team. The procurement manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely acquisition of high-quality equipment and fuel at competitive prices. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of procurement processes in transportation.

Duties and Responsibilities
\n

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers of trucks, trailers, and fuel. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply of goods.
  • \n
  • Conduct market research to maintain knowledge of equipment value/cost and identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities, pricing, and quality standards.
  • \n
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • \n
  • Develop procurement strategies and plans based on business needs, market trends, and budgetary considerations.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with organizational goals and objectives.
  • \n
  • Manage inventory levels of trucks, trailers, and fuel to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
  • \n
  • Implement inventory tracking systems and processes to monitor stock levels and replenish inventory as needed.
  • \n
  • Analyze procurement data and identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and optimize procurement processes.
  • \n
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives such as bulk purchasing, vendor consolidation, and price negotiations.
  • \n
  • Ensure that purchased trucks, trailers, and fuel meet quality standards and specifications.
  • \n
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks as needed to verify the condition and performance of goods received.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and procurement policies.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and documentation to support compliance efforts.
  • \n
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure business continuity.

  • Monitor market conditions and industry trends to anticipate and respond to potential risks.
  • \n
  • Explore opportunities to sell surplus or retired trucks and trailers to generate revenue for the organization.

  • Develop sales strategies and marketing plans to promote vehicles for resale and maximize profitability.

Educational background / Work experience / Qualifications
\n

  • 5+ years' experience in procurement/purchasing roles, in the trucking industry is strongly preferred.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and inventory control principles.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with trucking and transportation equipment, including trucks, trailers, and fuel specifications and requirements.
  • \n
  • CDL A holder is a plus
  • \n

  • Business fluent in English

  • Preferably good command of local language

Computer Literacy

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others)

Work Hours and Environment

Normal working hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, working beyond these hours will often be required by business needs.

Salary Positions

For this position, the expected base pay is: $85,500- $128,000/ Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
