Product Designer (NYPD1) Responsibilities


  • Design digital user interfaces, create graphics, and design new experiences or layouts that evolve and/or define visual systems for web-based applications and technologies with a focus on aesthetics and design.

  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and create design flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant for supported platforms.

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, UX researchers and content strategists to iterate and oversee user experience of a product from conception to launch.

  • Give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality.

  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of a variety of factors.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field and two years of work experience in the job offered or a computer-related occupation. Requires two years of experience in the following:

  • 1. Building and shipping applications or software at the level of whole features or products across a variety of platforms

  • 2. Interaction design, including defining how an experience should behave based on understanding people's needs

  • 3. Prototyping

  • 4. Visual design, including typography, desktop or mobile user interface, color, layout, and iconography

  • 5. Understanding product goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to internal and external users

  • 6. Creating user flow and mockups to articulate design concepts

  • 7. Defining product specifications and user experiences

  • 8. Understanding and interpreting user research and usability testing

  • 9. Conducting end to end design process across multiple projects including interaction and visual design artifacts and high-fidelity prototypes
