Pay: $ 90,000-$110,000 + Year end bonus

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for product development from concept, quote, APQP, Validation and Production Launch. There will be heavy emphasis for this role in production launches. The focus of this role will be a combination of Client driven projects as well as Chief Enterprise proprietary products. This position is for independently self-motivated and flexible engineers with strong project management and design capabilities rooted in plastics, metal working, and wiring industry experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support Clients, Business Development, Sales, Design, Product Design Engineering, Tooling Engineering, Quality Assurance & Production with Engineering Services.
• Responsible for Client Product Data Management recording and maintenance including RFQ Packages, Engineering Files, Quality Specifications
• Support Business Development with, planning and development of Manufacturing Process, Facilities, and Equipment
• Support Sales and Clients with quoting: provide Feasibility, Pricing, Lead Time for Manufacturing Process, Facilities and Equipment to design and produce parts within client requirements
• Support Design & Clients with Engineering services: 2D & 3D CAD, DFM, Structural design, Mechanical engineering, Material selection, Manufacturing Process/Facilities/Equipment
• Support Clients, Chief Teams with Project Management through the APQP process, PPAP process, and Production Launch
• Responsible for fulfilling tasks for Internal Product Data Management and coordination for ERP Entry and maintenance
• Participates in safety activities, audits and training. Follow all safety rules and regulations per the Employee Handbook. Understands that safety is the responsibility of every employee.
• Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing design & engineering, preferably in the Wire harness, Plastic Injection Molded Parts industry on part or tool design side. General Part / fixture / gaging design acceptable. 1-2 years experience in manufacturing and project management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related plastics manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in Onshape & Solidworks or similar CAD system
• Familiar with manufacturing and quality methodologies and best practices, such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO compliance, Kanban, Five Whys, etc.

Qualifications
• High Project Management Aptitude with excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
• Technical Aptitude in Design & Engineering (electrical, plastics, metal fabrication)
• Technical knowledge in Production of wire harnesses with experience in Injection Molded Plastics, Tool & Fixture, Gaging Design & Procurement
• Ability to present oneself as well as the company with Skilled Professionalism
• Interpersonal skills and customer service skills required.
• Ability to take initiative and problem solve and maintain composure in moderate stress situations
• High Attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Functional Understanding of ISO and other various Quality Management Systems. (AIAG, IATF knowledge very welcome)
• Functional Understanding of ERP systems (Netsuite Preferred, other ERP systems experience welcome)
• High 3D CAD/CAM modeling proficiency: Wire Harness design, injection molded part design, Mold Tool, Fixture, Gaging Design, Onshape, Solidworks (equivalent software experience welcome)
• High 2D CAD and Printmaking/reading aptitude (GD&T proficiency required)
• Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs, internet literate. Extensive Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat. (Google workspace experience very welcome)
• Familiarity with Teleconferencing (Google Meets, Skype, Go to Meeting,...)
• Proficient in the use of Subtractive and Additive Manufacturing for Production and Prototyping: CNC Machining, FDM, SLA, SLS
• Fulfill tasks to support Continual Improvement Projects: ECN/ECO (Engineering Change Notification/Order) Process planning and execution

• Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
• Willingness to travel for sales and customer calls in North America regularly; international travel may be required on occasion.
• Operate a company vehicle for regional and domestic travel during sales and customer calls.
