We are one of the leading global manufacturers of Coil Springs and Stabilizer Bars for the automotive industry. We are supporting all our North American customers from our office in Troy, Michigan.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Product Development Engineer!

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for engineering Coil Springs and Stabilizer Bars for our OEM customer(s). This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Product Development Engineer Key Job Tasks
  • First line of contact to the customer engineering department
  • Follow IATF 16949 processes including customer-specific requirements (CSR's)
  • Provide calculations and analysis according to the customer's expectations and our company guidelines/standards (including D-FMEA) to ensure technical compliance
  • Conduct design reviews with Engineering Manager for technical approval
  • Provide technical summaries to Sales & Manufacturing for cost & feasibility analysis
  • Support project meetings & technical reviews with customers & suppliers
  • Review, mark-up & release of 3D design & 2D drawings created by CAD Designer
  • Coordinate prototype development including procurement and tracking
  • Coordinate sub-suppliers' technical design & development progress
  • Develop test plans (DVP/PVP) & gathers results to obtain approval

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical knowledge & experience in suspension, and/or metal components
  • Experience with the development of products (Full Cycle - Concept to Production)
  • Professional experience at an automotive supplier or OEM
  • Experience supporting Japanese OEM's a plus
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills. We are working in an international business environment with frequent global interaction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Customer focus and ability to set due dates, plan steps, and complete task on time
  • Can solve problems independently, while utilizing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Experience with statistical analysis methods (standard deviation, Weibull, etc.)
  • Local travel (weekly) and occasional domestic/international (Mexico/Europe) trips (3 5 weeks/year)
