Summary:

SKF Aerospace NA is looking for a talented and motivated Product Engineering Manager to lead and develop the engineering competence and authority of the team for its area of focus, product assortment produced in SKF Aerospace at the Falconer and Muskegon Facilities. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Application Engineering team in implementing innovative solutions for our customers.
  • Drive Application Engineering for aerospace industry with a focus on engine and rotor craft transmission bearings ensuring that our products meet the individual requirements of each of our customers.
  • Drive and support the Design Automation & Digitalization journey we have started.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training programs for the engineering and sales teams.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering, and Factory Design and Process Engineering teams to enable smooth and technically accurate flowdown of technical plans for manufacturing and quality.
  • Maintain and drive improvement in team KPIs and Implement new ways of working to ensure efficient and state of the design automation and digitalization tools.
  • Guarantee compliance with Design rules and harmonize these rules between units.
  • Organize and/or participate in FMEA for our products.
  • Assist Design Engineers and Design/CAD Technicians in projects.
  • Provide the necessary technical support to the Application, Sales, Drawing, Process, Engineering and Test & Qualification teams.
  • Comply with Control Export regulations throughout the activity using validated tools.
  • Formalize and capitalize on the knowledge and experience acquired within the different units through harmonization.
  • Collaborate closely with our European and India design and engineering teams to ensure development of best design and engineering practices.
  • Lead your team in accordance with business needs and SKF Code of Conduct, EHS and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Implement approved engineering changes and ensure compliance with the Change Management Process.


Requirements:
  • University degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred).
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Product Engineer or similar role performing engineering functions related to bearings.
  • Knowledge of contact mechanics, tribology, finite element calculations, etc.
  • Knowledge of PLM/CAD systems such as Windchill, CREO, NX, CATIA, etc.
  • Reading technical plans and specifications.
  • Great rigor and technical analysis related to detailed technical products and applications.
  • Excellent leadership & Coaching skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in design and analytical engineering processes.
  • Experience in developing bearing and seal applications in the aerospace industry and knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ability to guide the team through upcoming transformation phases.
  • Excellent communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong, positive attitude willing to embrace change and drive growth throughout the Aerospace organization.
  • Working closely with leadership in engineering, operations and sales, you will be responsible for forming a dynamic team of PEs and design technicians and take the lead as the PE Manager for the US Aerospace product offering.
  • As such this role should not require extensive travel but you should be willing to travel occasionally to other SKF Engineering/Factory locations for knowledge transfer, product design issues and trainings.
