This position will be filled at either the Production Control Specialist 2/Production Control Specialist 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Production Control Specialist 2 ($69,500 - $ 110,300)

The Experimental Device Engineering and Assembly Group (E-5) is Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) premier engineering organization focused on expert assembly of experimental weapon test devices. E-5 integrates a team of highly skilled and motivated engineers, technicians, parts management specialists, hazardous materials transportation specialists, and operations specialists to deliver high-quality assemblies meeting customer requirements safely and securely. E-5 is also focused on supporting multiple experimental and R&D programs at LANL and external government agencies.

E-5 is currently seeking a highly motivated Production Control Specialist 2/3 to serve as a group point of contact for coordinating and scheduling team transports to include tracking these metrics for E-5. This position will act as liaison and scheduler between E-5 and other LANL groups and external organizations for coordinating parts (shipments and receipts) and maintaining the accuracy of the integrated schedule and footprints requests. This position requires strong communication skills, clear initiative, and the ability to coordinate and communicate with programs and customers. The selected candidate will work closely with management, assembly personnel, and Weapons System Engineering personnel. The selected candidate may also be responsible for accurately and compliantly assigning and documenting test hardware for use in all LANL-associated testing activities utilizing a LANL approved Integrated Tracking Systems.

Production Control Specialist 3 ($83,900 - $ 136,600)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the Production Control Specialist 3 will serve as the group representative and develop viable solutions that address packaging, shipping, and transportation needs of the team. They may be delegated authority to schedule for and speak on behalf of the team for packaging and transportation stakeholders.

Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support, and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all levels of personnel, including external interfaces and management with the ability to build rapport at all levels.

Proven success working independently and as a contributing member of a team; being able to interact effectively with all levels of personnel--building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Working knowledge in business operations across a large business environment.

Computing/Business Systems

Above average computer skills and demonstrated experience with Inventory Control, Material Tracking systems, and various software suites-including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q Clearance.

Additional Job Requirements for Production Control Specialist 3 :
  • In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
  • Familiarity with production work planning and control methods.
  • Sound knowledge of resource planning and optimization practices as well as multi-organization resource integration processes
  • Knowledgeable of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant Laboratory procedures, standards and guides.


Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires 8 years of related experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

Classified Parts Management

Working knowledge of how to communicate and coordinate policies associated with classified matter protection and control (CMPC). Experience as a Classified Material Custodian (CMC).

Special Systems

Hands-on experience with LANL FootPrints, PDMLink, and Classified Parts Inventory Management System (CPIMS) databases.

Other
  • Familiar with writing Interm Hazard Classifications (IHC)
  • Familiar with and reporting to weapons integrated schedule (IS)
  • Familiar with 49 CFR DOT regulations parts 100- 185
  • Familiar with explosives
  • Familiar with work break down structures (WBS) and ability to work project management life cycles initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.

Clearance

Active DOE Q clearance.

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
