Primary Function: Responsible for directing and supervising department operations while meeting goals for safety, throughput, productivity, cycle time and quality.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains safe work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise production activity within assigned manufacturing departments to achieve a level daily throughput that meets or exceeds our TOC lines.
  • Lead / Facilitate cost reduction and productivity improvements for the department which would result in a 4% productivity improvement quarter over quarter. Experience with Kaizen and Lean manufacturing tools (concept and facilitation).
  • Project manage Continuous Improvement and 6S activities for assigned manufacturing departments. This includes coaching and training the team to improve maturity of understanding.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change
  • Set priorities, schedule and assign work within assigned departments. Coordinate activities with other depts.
  • Ensure the timely completion of quality audits in assigned manufacturing departments.
  • Interview, select, train, evaluate performance, grant increases, promote, transfer, counsel, discipline, and layoff subordinates to maintain a flexible, efficient and well-motivated workforce.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other departments, government and customer contacts.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or appropriate to the position.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Able to apply concepts of fractions, percentages ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 35lbs. occasionally.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and vendors.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract
  • Able to use Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field highly preferred.
  • 4 to 6 years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, 6S, TPM, Process Flow, etc.)
  • Understanding of general construction practices

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, driving, using hands to handle or feel, reaching above

  • Frequent work required in areas with wet or humid conditions-non-weather, near moving
mechanical parts, in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor or weather conditions, extreme cold non-weather, extreme heat non-weather, and vibration.
  • Occasional elevated work requiring use of a man lift and fall restraint.
  • Work in areas with loud noise required.
