Position Summary
The Production Planner participates in the development and refinement of production schedules. The Production Planner directly tracks and analyzes new and ongoing orders, implementing production changes as required, while balancing inventory quantities. This position works closely with procurement to maintain satisfactory levels of raw materials to meet production objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Identify common raw material and component requirements for production. Ensure accurate item master schedules and bill of materials.
  • Communicate and advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed and to recommend production standards and manufacturing methods.
  • Confirm materials supply is available to meet demand.
  • Prepare work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts to support master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinate materials movements and sequences between internal work and storage areas and/or outside processing, suppliers, or other division locations to ensure materials are available when needed and are shipped efficiently.
  • Schedule and expedite the movement of parts to meet customer shipping dates. Project component availability for assembly build schedule and development of monthly sales plan objectives.
  • Perform inventory adjustments as required.
  • Interfacing with supply base.
  • Ensure correct configuration and documentation for all open orders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing,

Shipping/Receiving to ensure open communication regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status.

  • Will work daily with MRP system.
  • Develop new processes to support conversion to Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree Supply Chain management or relevant discipline.

• Minimum five years of experience in the manufacturing industry

• Experience and/or exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies, and manufacturing through internships or training programs.

• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all
