Position Overview:

The Production Supervisor (2nd Shift) is responsible for leading and managing the department(s) in accomplishing strategic goals involving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP). This includes making decisions on changes in the production schedule, headcount, safety, and quality issues. This person oversees Team Leads to ensure they promote a safe, quality and team focused working environment at all times.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Drive employee engagement, training, and NES deployment
  • Hold Team Leads and all team members accountable to sustain 6S in all areas of their department(s) (6S= Safety, Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Maintain and coordinate production schedule to include managing OT and headcount needs
  • Supervise and develop Team Leads; complete performance reviews, identify personnel and overtime requirements; work with management on staffing resolutions; address and follow-up on employee relation concerns; manage direct reports time keep and vacation in organization's time keep program
  • Enforce policy compliance; manage Team Leads and team members performance through Nelson Discipline process
  • Facilitate in partnership with safety leadership, near miss investigations, safety, and employee incidents
  • Recommend, drive, and support Continuous Improvement projects
  • Oversee performance evaluations for consistency and fairness to company standards and expectations between teams
  • Maintain and uphold department goals surrounding safety, quality, on time delivery and communicate this information daily to the Operations Manager
  • Work with HR around employee issues, investigation, and policy conformance
  • Provide leadership with production and financial information as requested to ensure we meet our business needs
  • Responsible for Quality Checks and assist with shipping and material handling when required
  • Delegate responsibilities as needed
  • Complete timely and accurate paperwork
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience (Bachelor's degree desired)
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervision or leadership role
  • Experience developing leaders is preferred
  • Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing practices

Skills & Abilities:
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to communicate with employees, opposite shifts, and leadership
  • Coaching and mentoring skillset
  • Must have strong computer skills in excel, word, PowerPoint
  • Must have the ability to attend and complete training on off hours and complete Mandatory Leadership classes
  • Must have proficiency in reading and writing
  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work
  • Ability to read Engineering Prints
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Common approach to continuous improvement
  • Team player with a very positive attitude, willing to be a champion of change
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strategic thinking
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Must maintain confidential information
