Enhance the Liberty experience by planning, integrating and operating production equipment for business conferences, seminars, meetings, concerts, and other events of every scale. Duties include gathering event details to schedule proper gear and crew for assigned shows. Mixing audio, managing audio or video content, loading in and out equipment for shows, overseeing video wall content, and programming venue lighting are all aspects that go into assigned shows. Technicians use a variety of equipment, including intelligent and conventional lighting systems, speaker systems, content systems, audio mixers, and LED Walls.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Keep a team focused and make calculated decisions in stressful situations.

2. Professionally communicate in layman's terms with customers who have a broad range of technical experience.

3. Research, specify, and integrate equipment for future events.

4. Interview, evaluate, and mentor staff.

5. Anticipate and plan for customers' unexpressed potential needs to technicians.

6. Knowledge of principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting, live video production, electricity, and computing systems.

7. Skill with termination and test equipment.

8. Operate production equipment for small and large scale shows.

9. Help others learn and adapt quickly to dynamic work situations.

10. Keep the team abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.

11. Lead by example.

12. Troubleshoot complex issues and resolve them swiftly or implement backup plans.

13. Serve as customer liaison when needed.

14. Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering Liberty University's mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Full-time and part-time staff, student workers, freelancers, and volunteers.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 1+ years of production management experience.

2. 3+ years of experience in the production industry.

3. Specialized skill in live production audio, video, or lighting.

4. Knowledge of production rigging.

5. Knowledge of low and high-voltage electricity.

6. Knowledge of audio and visual equipment, concepts, processes, and software.

7. Positive attitude and excellent work ethic.

8. Ability to work independently, proactively, and react quickly within high-pressure situations.

9. Ability to teach advanced audio and video production concepts and operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certified Technology Specialist™ (CTS®).

2. Smaart audio system tuning certification.

3. AutoCAD certification or Vectorworks certification.

4. GrandMA lighting console training certification (or another lighting console).

5. Audio console training certification.

6. Production rigging or motor/hoist training certification.

7. Specialist certificate in live sound production.

8. Associates degree or higher in live show production.

9. Audio or lighting engineer for a nationally recognized touring artist.
