The University of Tennessee Health Science Center invites applications and nominations for the position Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine-Chattanooga affiliated with Erlanger Health. The Children's Hospital at Erlanger is a comprehensive, regional pediatric center which offers pediatric emergency care, Level I Pediatric Trauma Care, Level IV NICU services and a wide array of additional pediatric specialty and subspecialty care. Erlanger Health has an annual patient net revenue of $1.2B.

The Chair will manage a department of 70 faculty, 27 residents, and an annual academic budget of approximately $2.5 million. The successful candidate will be responsible for the department's patient care, education, research, and service operations while also maintaining a fully accredited residency program.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates are required to hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified in their respective specialty as well as be eligible for licensure in Tennessee upon appointment. Additional subspecialty training is welcomed, but is not required. Salary and rank status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Departmental Preferences:

The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of and experience with ACGME and LCME requirements, demonstrated experience and skills in fiscal management, developing clinical practice plans, communications, fund raising, and fostering collaborative working relationships with colleagues and community partners. They should also have proven experience as a clinician, faculty member and teacher with an academic rank of Associate Professor or above for a minimum of three years. The ideal candidate should also have previous administrative experience and evidence of research and scholarly activity.
