Faculty job description:
The University of Rochester, Department of Ophthalmology invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track position for scientists working in retina research with a desire to utilize high-resolution retinal imaging. A strategic goal of the Flaum Eye Institute is to develop and apply innovative new capabilities to study the structure and function of the retina in healthy and diseased eyes. This includes basic research in the clinical setting or on a number of animal models including (but not limited to) mouse and non-human primate systems.
This position will involve a primary appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Flaum Eye Institute and will have opportunity for a secondary appointment in the Institute of Optics. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with a team of faculty developing and applying adaptive optics imaging (Advanced Retinal Imaging Alliance). Candidates with experience developing advanced high-resolution ophthalmic imaging systems are encouraged to apply. This may include (but is not limited to): OCT, SLO, two-photon imaging, fluorescence lifetime or other advanced retinal imaging modalities in development. Potential collaborators and excellent graduate students are also available through related programs; including the Center for Visual Science (a collaborative university-wide community of ~40 faculty engaged in vision research), the Department of Neuroscience , Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Genetics, the UR Aging Institute and the Institute of Optics.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have a background in retina studies, should hold a PhD or MD or equivalent and have demonstrated significant research achievement and the ability or potential to attract extramural funding. Depending on qualifications an appointment will be made at the assistant, associate or full professor level.
