This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are: three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.

Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Under the supervision of the Administrative Services Director and the Human Resource Specialist 1, the duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

? Region 6 Regional Training Coordinator.
? Although the incumbent will work primarily in the State Office Building in Hornell, the selected candidate must also be able to occasionally travel overnight for trainings, meetings, and conferences.

Back up for the following:
? Provide assistance to Administrative Services staff with NYSTEP and HRIS data entry and personnel transactions processing.
? Request Civil Service lists through ELMS and/or the List Unit.
? Canvass Civil Service lists.

? Prepare and post job vacancy announcements.
? Maintain search folders for R6 job postings.
? Liaison to program mangers/supervisors by providing canvass responses.
? Workers' Compensation responsibilities.
? The incumbent will be expected to work with personal and confidential employee records and materials and to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
? The incumbent will be required to use independent judgment.
? Preferred candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
? Assist with other functions as needed.

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department's response to Regional and State-wide emergency situations.
