The University of Washington Counseling Center is a valued and growing department in the Division of Student Life. The UW Counseling Center provides counseling services to UW students to assist with barriers to their academic success. The Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Assistant to support our staff in a variety of duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Assistant (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) will have the following responsibilities:

Front Desk Reception:

  • Greet students and community members in a welcoming, professional manner at all times on the phone and in-person.

  • Maintain the highest standards of customer service.

  • Provide accurate information about the center and related campus services.

  • Schedule appointments and route inquiries.

  • Maintain close communication with center leadership regarding center operations and staffing concerns.

  • Coordinate effectively with other reception staff in managing breaks and providing coverage during planned or unplanned front desk staff absences.

    Client Records and Data Management:

  • Enter data into spreadsheets or databases via keyboard or scanning function.

  • Develop reports, including graphically presenting data (tables, charts, etc.) and organizing materials for distribution.

  • Prepare complex reports as requested.

  • Track and order office supplies and other materials as instructed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Communicate and work effectively as a member of a team in an ethnically and culturally diverse university community.

  • Capacity to multitask under pressure and respond professionally to all students and community members, including those in distress.

  • Ability to exercise judgment and collaborate effectively in the solution of practical problems relating to office operations and data collection.

  • Must be flexible and willing to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on details.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office and other software; ability to learn new software applications.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with students.

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience using online survey creation software.

  • Bachelor's degree.
