This position has a hybrid work schedule and is considered office-centered which means the incumbent works fifty percent or less of their time monthly from an alternate work location. Duties: Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (SSMII), Program Control Branch (PCB), the Research Data Specialist II (RDSII) will serve as an Alternative Funding Coordinator to direct the activities within the Division of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to research and secure grants and other non- State Water Project (SWP) funding sources for activities and projects that are currently funded by SWP. The incumbent will work with the PCB Team, the Asset management (AM) Team, and other O&M and Department of Water Resources (DWR) offices to provide expertise and direction to enhance O&M's capabilities to identify, evaluate, and prioritize the additional funding requirements to supplement the State Water Project funding for maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and replacement needs of SWP facilities.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

This position requires the incumbent to have a proficient understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources, policies, and procedures and the ability to lead the development of application packages and work with the AM Team for associated engineering studies to include for the alternate funding opportunities for SWP infrastructure planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and replacement activities; coordinate with DWR staff to identify non-SWP funding sources for various activities managed by the O&M; evaluate the sufficiency of available information, have a working knowledge of infrastructure risks, and work with the AM Team who will provide the scoping and completion of engineering and economic studies and the required technical analyses to support each application package. The incumbent is required to have effective writing skills and the knowledge of grant application and other funding program requirements; work independently with minimum of supervision, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent and regular attendance; and pay great attention to detail, work well under pressure, and work in limited time frames.
