The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a PROGRAM MANAGER I to be responsible for managing a range of current and future BEP internal university and external ecosystem programming and activities. The work will include on-campus BEP activities and ecosystem activities at our Innovation Depot space. Considering UAB's urban identity, the BEP ecosystem presence at Innovation Depot, and BEP course-based outreach activities, the position will interface with many entrepreneurs, supporters, and city and state leaders, in addition to many internal UAB students, staff, and faculty members across the institution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managing a range of current and future BEP internal university and external ecosystem programming and activities. The work will include on-campus BEP activities and ecosystem activities at our Innovation Depot space. Considering UAB's urban identity, the BEP ecosystem presence at Innovation Depot, and BEP course-based outreach activities, the position will interface with many entrepreneurs, supporters, and city and state leaders, in addition to many internal UAB students, staff, and faculty members across the institution. Specific Duties Externally themed program management activities will account for approximately 75% of time spent on job duties. 25% effort will be spent on internal / student activities. All aspects of professional-grade event planning for ecosystem panel discussions, educational programming, lectures, social events, networking events, and other gatherings throughout the year. Management, coordination, and monitoring of the BEP ecosystem space at Innovation Depot. Coordination of BEP Chair calendar and meetings with various internal and external stakeholders. Participation in the strategic planning process to grow the BEP and maximize its local impact via the application of global best practices in the entrepreneurship and educational realms. Keeping current and abreast of best practices at university entrepreneurship programs and national and international professional organizations to maintain world-class competitiveness of the BEP. Management of various BEP external communications (e.g., BEP newsletter) in coordination with UAB communication functions. Participation in fundraising meetings with current and prospective BEP donors. Build rapport, relationships, and promote a strong community spirit among the growing population of students across UAB who are interested in entrepreneurship using in-person and virtual engagements. Facilitate engagements and coordination with other university entrepreneurship programs on national and international levels. Promote greater coordination and strategic engagement with ecosystem partners in the greater Birmingham and regional ecosystems. Management and direct supervision of student workers in support of a wide range of BEP programming and activities in order to build capacity for professional-grade event standards.

(Annual Salary: $41,175 - $66,915)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
