To administratively manage one or more program/s within the School of Medicine (SOM). To independently design, develop and administer program content for the assigned program. To establish program objectives, maintain policies and procedures, serve as liaison between the program and internal/external stakeholders. To provide administrative support to faculty, staff, students and the outside community. To manage assigned program fiscal operations, develop and provide reports and/or analyses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the day-to-day operations of Undergraduate Medical Education.
  • Lead and support staff in implementing the daily curriculum with precision and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, training, and supervision of UME staff, fostering a supportive and high-performing team culture.
  • Efficiently handle scheduling and electronic timesheets for UME coordinators to optimize workflow.
  • Ensure seamless administration of clinical clerkship exams on the Birmingham campus, overseeing both clinical and preclinical assessments.
  • Collaborate with module and clerkship directors to address any emergent scheduling challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring continuity of educational experiences.
  • Compile and present third-year grade data to clerkship directors for informed decision-making.
  • Partner with Assistant Deans of clinical and pre-clinical education on various special projects, leveraging expertise and resources.
  • Act as the primary coordinator for both student and faculty course design processes, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Instructional Design specialist to ensure smooth proctor availability and step in when needed.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively engage students and faculty with relevant information.
  • Manage evaluation processes meticulously, from delivery to reporting, ensuring comprehensive feedback loops.
  • Manage contracts and payments with UME vendors efficiently, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
  • Keep website materials up to date, including UME policies and guidelines, to provide students and faculty with accurate information.
  • Oversee Greenspire card payments for patient presentations, ensuring smooth transactions and accurate records.
  • Authorize student absences through the student absence notification system, maintaining accountability and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Disability Support Services to ensure seamless accommodations for testing, promoting inclusivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $45,395 - $73,770

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
