Summary

This position is located in a National Labor Relations Board field office. The field offices represent the actual operating arm of the Agency and the means through which both the Board and the General Counsel interact with the public.

This position is responsible for a variety of administrative program support functions in furtherance of the Agency's unfair labor practice and representation work.

This is a developmental position leading to the full performance grade of GS-0303-08.

Duties

As a Program Support Assistant (OA) GS-0303-7, your typical work assignments may include:
  • Assisting field office attorneys with trial proceedings by organizing evidence and independently preparing and assembling legal documents to support cases.
  • Maintaining case files by establishing and organizing documents, recording actions, updating all electronic case records and databases (Case Management software), and confirming case statuses with attorneys.
  • Utilizing the Agency's electronic case processing system to provide technical support and guidance to various staff members in operational uses, tracking, retrieval and electronic recordkeeping.
  • Arranging and preparing material to final format for a variety of legal and administrative documents.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

The Ideal Candidate has experience working with attorneys or in a legal or professional environment providing legal assistance for the electronic case processing workflow. Candidates should have experience composing and formatting documents which are legal in nature and ability to perform basic research as required. The individual should possess excellent communication skills efficiently for obtaining and gathering information to and from the public. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be qualified for this position at the GS-07 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Program Support Assistant (OA) at the GS-07. Specialized experience includes:
  • Compiling and organizing legal information obtained from files and records, policies, regulations and statutes, witness interviews, databases, to assist with case preparation; and
  • Utilizing an automated database management system to input, retrieve, monitor and maintain electronic case files; and
  • Performing a variety of technical and administrative functions using operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance of daily tasks.

TYPING PROFICIENCY

This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Your response to the typing skill question on the Assessment Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
