Summary
This Program Support Assistant position is in the Associate Director, Patient Care service within the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) at Aurora, CO. This position manages all administrative functions and actions associated with the Professional Standards Boards (PSB's) for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). This position serves as Subject Matter Expert for the VA ECHCS and advises several professional boards as well as the leadership members.

Specialized experience includes: Reviewing and analyzing the qualification of Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Resisted Nurse by ensuring all required elements are present and accurate, including but not limited to: licensure, education, training, etc. Creating, reviewing, and maintaining processes to manage reoccurring action items, such as licensure, and reappraisals. Managing and coordinating with other department (Human Resources, Patient Care, etc.) to review and process action items such as appointments, promotions, special advancement, etc. Assisting Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in completing documents in a timely manner. Maintaining computer databases to track Registered Nurses and Advance Practice Registered Nurse actions items and information.

Major duties include but are not limited to:
- Manages the administrative processes regarding Professional Standards Board (PSB) actions, including appointments, conversions of appointments, promotions, special advancement for achievement (SAA), reconsiderations for promotions, and any other applicable board actions.
- Sends applicants the Nursing Professional Standards Board (NPSB) requirements and instructions. The incumbent works with the candidate in completing documents and ensuring they are returned for review in a timely manner.
- Reviews and analyzes the qualifications of applicants, ensures all required elements are present and accurate. This including but not limited to: licensure, performance, education, training, clinical judgment, and converting/ calculating full-time equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Creates and maintains the processes to manage reoccurring action items, such as proficiencies, licensure, and reappraisals, within the set time frame.
- Tracks and ensures items are submitted timely, which allows for completion before any expirations and deadlines.
- Analyzes and summarizes PSB data trends; length of time to process an action and length of time to complete each step of the PSB process.
- Identifies best practices and areas for improvement in the process, as well as make recommendations to leadership.
- Maintains computer databases to track and identifies trends throughout related to the professional standards board (PSB).
- Maintains close working relationships with other Services throughout the health care system including but not limited to; Human Resources (HR), the Director's office, and Patient Care Services.
- Discusses current processes, ongoing planning of boards, data presentations, identified areas for improvement, and other regulatory changes impacting the PSB's with the NPSB Chari and Co-Chairs.
- Efficiently maintains the Nursing Staff credentialing files and documentation databases.
