Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts. The Chesterfield Health District provides public health services to the residents of Chesterfield County, Powhatan County, and the City of Colonial Heights. This position is based in Chesterfield. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

The Chesterfield Health District is seeking an experienced Program Support Tech Senior to join our team. The Program Support Tech Senior will independently perform technical office tasks in support of one or more programs, continuously applying policy and procedures pertaining to daily finance reporting and accounts billing.

This position will serve as an expert contact and information resource for one or more clinical programs/services; performs the most complex tasks for program services available in a health department or district; provides information to promote access to other services.

Position will serve in a supervisory capacity to direct, advise and train others; design and direct workflow processes; research and processes insurance claims; gathers data and collects and prepares reports on program activities; develops, promotes and coordinates program activities, and may provide financial/procurement support as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of medical office procedures, computer and software technology, use of policies & procedures and customer service.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written

Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator); Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies

Additional Considerations

Coursework in Medical Terminology

Bilingual in English/Spanish

Experience using Webvision, Payscan, Avality and/or other health coverage software.

Demonstrated experience in financial reporting associated with billing

Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse persons and communities, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
