Job Duties

To promote public safety and reduce recidivism by supporting probationers through a continuum of services, in collaboration with state and local partners.

Provide Gender Responsive Peer Support services to individuals on state responsible supervision. This position will serve Chesterfield Women's CCAP and Probation and Parole District #34 Williamsburg. This position is mobile.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience facilitating groups, mentoring, and coaching varied populations in the criminal justice or human services setting. Experience supporting gender responsive concepts; Experience connecting individuals to community resources. Demonstration of ongoing personal growth; willingness to share personal experiences; excellent communication skills. Ability to reflect optimism of a probationer's ability to re-enter the community. Ability to engage difficult to reach individuals; ability to identify a probationer's stage of change; demonstration of ethical responsibility, boundaries, and confidentiality. experience with documentation including utilization of gender responsive language.

Additional Considerations

Certification in peer support services.
