Job Duties

The Department of Motor Vehicles is looking to hire Program Support Technicians for two part time wage positions with the Driver Services administration in Richmond, Virginia.

This is a technical position in a high-volume DMV production unit responding to mail and telephone inquiries for service; responds to and provides guidance on routine and non-routine licensing inquiries to DMV Customer Service Center, in addition to other internal and external customers via telephone, written, and Internet correspondence. Participates as required in program initiatives and activities designed to enhance work center processes, and to expedite production. This position is also responsible for determining an applicant's eligibility for a Virginia's driver's license or a commercial driver's license. Advises citizens of requirements in writing or by telephone and updates the automated records in a timely manner.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

•Knowledge of business English and Mathematics
•Use of personal computers, printers, scanners, copier, multi-line phones, and MS Office Suite.
• Good interpersonal skills. Experience working as part of multi-faceted team(s).
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills orally and through written correspondence. Work experience in written formal communication
•High school diploma or GED. Any combination of training and experience indicating possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies may be considered as a substitute for this education.

Additional Considerations

•Ability to analyze and explain accurate and complete information based on federal/state laws and regulations and DMV policies.
•Use of agency systems essential to performing assigned duties such as CSS, On Base, and CBN Request Manager.
•Experience managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
