What You Will Do
This Project Controls Engineer 3 (Cost Software Administrator) position is a Project Controls Division (PC-DO) position for deployment into the Weapons Directorate (DDW) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). You will work in a collaborative environment as the programs primary Deltek Cobra administrator and will initially be fully engaged with activities related to oversight of the Deltek Cobra solution as established for our Weapons Directorate (DDW).
Work activities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Cobra platform, responsible for configuration, maintenance, data loads, integration, upgrades, and optimization of the Cobra environment.
- The Cobra Administrator will support the assigned user community with troubleshooting of issues and work closely with internal management to understand complex business processes and requirements. Serve as technical lead on patch and application testing and updates.
- Collaborate with our Program Management Resource Center IT (PMRC-IT delivers continuous modernization, upgrades and works to support business changes as part of our client support as well as maintaining and managing our business systems) lead to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within Cobra or other related business applications.
- Maintain the data in the system for integrity and compliance.
- Recommend, implement, and plans for improvements, enhancements and new applications that may require Cobra data be shared.
- Provide end-user support and training, ensuring employees and managers are successful in implementation and maintenance of Deltek Cobra.
- Maintain data in Cobra for integrity and compliance and assist in any system reviews as necessary.
- Maintain documentation related to system configuration, processes, and guides.
- Responsible for application administration including researching and resolving issues, creating and maintaining hierarchies, write or modify basic calculation scripts or business rules, execute processes such as deploying data and updating variables, and maintain mapping of source data from local source systems to the financial reporting systems.
- Serve as primary point of contact for Cobra requests and approve data modification scripts when troubleshooting application issues via support cases with Deltek Customer Care team.
- Support for Deltek Cobra security administration and adherence to business policies and procedures
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of Deltek Cobra (or like software) administration experience. The position will be leveled based on experience.
- Experience with configuration and administration across an organization.
- Knowledge of project controls processes and project execution. Strong understanding of managing large volumes of data with business systems and knowledge of Primavera or scheduling integration with the cost system (Deltek Cobra preferred).
- Experience with systems that integrate with cost systems (Deltek Cobra preferred).
- Demonstrated experience to work independently, organize, and prioritize in preparing, analysis, and reporting project controls information in accordance with established requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities in large organization.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in, or working knowledge of the NNSA Weapon Life Cycle, or 6.X Process.
- Experience working with the Department of Energy (DOE) at headquarters or field office level, or with state and federal regulators.
- Knowledge of Laboratory processes and procedures customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Degree or have knowledge of Weapons programs specific needs, or project/program management customarily acquired over time through education, or practical experience.
- Clearance Level - Must be able to obtain a DOE "Q" clearance as this position will be cleared to this level.
