The Cognos Project Coordinator will be responsible for report development and analytics for all areas of the business. The goal will be to deliver quality work in a timely fashion consistent with established standards. Work will consist of report development, dashboard development, framework maintenance and support both cloud and on prem.

The Business Intelligence group is a team of report developers operating in Cognos environment. This group oversees report development and enhancement, framework development, training, reporting governance, tuning, some aspects of data warehousing and Cognos system administration. The position involves effective understanding of business needs combined with a knowledge of pertinent data to design reporting solutions that are meaningful and well thought out based on business requirements, standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Excellent Organizational and customer facing skills



  • Experience in working on a BI tool and report development



  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and able to adjust with ease to high priority tasks



  • Experience with leading projects and excellent overall project management skills



  • Assistance with prioritization of incoming business requests



  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding information needs



  • Assistance with some aspects of Cognos Administration



  • Collaborate with business users and members of IT, including business analysts, database administrators, and managers, to design and develop Cognos reporting capability



  • Exhibit a commitment to data quality by validating results against sources specified in the requirements



  • Develop and maintain stored procedures



  • Write and support queries against databases to be used for reporting and for validation/unit testing



  • Provide production support for Reporting issues during and outside of business hours as needed



  • Provide occasional training of Cognos software, environment, and configuration to other report writers and consumers



  • Report Development experience in Cognos BI tool will be a plus.

Key Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously



  • History of ensuring tasks are completed on time and following up with team members



  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or any similar technical fields



Experience required

  • BA/BS/Bachelor’s Degree



  • 0-3 years related experience



  • Significant experience developing reports in Cognos or any other BI tool



  • Significant SQL experience
