The Department of Physical Plant at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Project Coordinator to join their team:

Summary:

The Project Coordinator - Physical Plant, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of capital and large in-house projects from inception through occupancy. This position is also responsible for supervising the Lock Shop union personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews potential in-house projects with the requesting Hospital departments and determines achievability of the request. Develops job scope and budgets with contractors, engineers and design firms for all capital and operational projects. Creates formal estimates for the Requesting Department to approve. Works with outside contractors and in-house staff to determine the estimated cost. Bids out the job if needed and organizes the quotes from outside contractors, reviewing them for completeness and validity of the costs. Requests PO's for the selected vendors and approves material purchases as needed. Verifies and approves vendor invoices for payment. Coordinates with and manages contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely and all Joint Commission & Infection Control protocols are adhered to. Coordination of schedules between departments and contractors to ensure minimal disruption of patient services. Oversees the work of in-house and contractors to ensure work is completed timely and within budget. Supervises the Lock Shop staff. Completes all annual in-service programs as established by the UPHS and Department policies. Ensures all contractors and vendors working for the Physical Plant are compliant with all mandated vaccinations and training.

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
    • 2+ years Previous experience with project coordination or healthcare operations (Required)
      OR
    • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
    • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree: 2-5+ years previous experience with project coordination in healthcare operations or relevant experience (Required)
