- Associate's degree and six years of experience

Duties Description Under the direction of a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG-27, within the Chief Technology Office/Enterprise Network Services/Local Area Network (LAN) Engineering Services group, the Project Coordinator, SG-NS, will perform advanced network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and technical support for hardware, software and connectivity in the NYS ITS voice and data networks, and remote locations, in support of client networking activities and ongoing mission-critical initiatives.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various NYS agency LAN environments/projects, such as the Department of Health (DOH), Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG), etc.
-Lead major projects and Data Center Consolidation initiatives in the data/voice Data Center networks, including design, implementation, testing, and decision-making authority.
- Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
- Manage network equipment in the NYS data centers and remote locations. This includes voice and data communications equipment such as cabling, firewalls, routers, switches, IPS devices, servers, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones, WAP (Wireless Access Point) devices, etc., manufactured by Arista, Aruba, Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Juniper, Lenovo, Meraki, Palo Alto, etc. This includes designing, implementing, configuring, installing, monitoring, troubleshooting, performing code upgrades, migrating, relocating, removing equipment.
- Troubleshoot carrier class network equipment, including end-to-end network connectivity using command line tools, e.g., PCAP, Wireshark, tcpdump etc.; perform analysis of packet captures, firewall logs and syslogs; understand data networking protocols including TCP/IP; OSI; OSPF; BGP; HTTP; SSL; DNS; TLS; WAP; and other Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) protocols.
- Provide in-depth analysis on network data captures using monitoring tools such as Zenoss, Splunk, NfSen, Wireshark, etc.
- Oversee network monitoring to ensure maximum network availability.
- Provide 24x7x365 on-call network support, on a rotating basis, for troubleshooting, escalation and ticket resolutions.
- Report network outages, degradation of services or severely impactful events to senior management immediately so that upper ITS management may be briefed if necessary.
- Review agency network connectivity and access requirements.
- Participate in network performance analysis, training, and capacity planning.
- Design, test, and implement a broad range of new network solutions, migrations and upgrades for ITS Enterprise and NYS Agency networks.
- Perform evaluations on software/hardware intended to be added or updated within the ITS Enterprise infrastructure or at ITS remote sites to ensure network continuity/compatibility.
- Support Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) environments which utilize advanced routing protocols including OSPF, IBGP, EBGP.
- Use all available network tools to provide exceptional support/service to fulfill customer requirements.
- Keep network documentation updated and accurate, such as Visio diagrams, operational procedures, training manuals, and network templates.
- Occasional travel may be required.
