This is a limited grant funded position with an expected salary of $36.88 per hour averaging 12-14 hours per week.

DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Library provides services to the student community, faculty, researchers and the public. The Library's vision is to "make information accessible in order to inspire innovation, foster critical inquiry, and advocate for social justice." The Project Management Professional supports this vision by significantly influencing the development of programs and strategies to support open source in academia.

Funded by a two (2) year grant from the Sloan Foundation, the UC San Diego Library seeks a Project Management Professional to be part of a new initiative.

This position will play a critical role in the creation and development of an Open Source Program Office (OSPO) at the UC San Diego Library, working closely with the Research Data Curation Program Director and other University of California stakeholders to establish OSPO capabilities for the campus community. The person in this role will work with the Director of the Research Data Curation Program to manage projects of moderate scope and impact, utilizing a range of frameworks, methods, and policies to ensure successful outcomes. They will collaborate with faculty, researchers, staff, and students to identify and provide the most valuable tools, resources, and support for open-source software development and community management. In addition, they will work closely with emerging OSPO communities across the academic landscape.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives. Demonstrated experience developing open-source software. Working knowledge of open-source research methodologies.
  • Requires basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. Demonstrated ability to provide project updates and coordinate work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Requires effective communication and organization skills. Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with peers. Experience working in dynamic, culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated effective organization and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
