An Oil & Gas company in The Woodlands is seeking a Manager of Ship Design & Construction to join their organization. This individual will provide project management leadership and expertise to a variety of FSRU modifications driven by development projects worldwide. The Project Manager will assist development projects in meeting safety, environmental and capital objectives and provide project management support throughout the project lifecycle including support to the vessel operations and commercial team.
Further Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety is paramount in all aspects of work planning/execution and the company's Core Values are applied to daily routines
- Ability to manage projects which will include major upgrades to vessel systems from inception through commissioning including on-site supervision as required.
- Broader knowledge of marine engineering with willingness to lead and manage projects outside of core expertise.
- Follow Stage Gate Process for all project planning and execution including preparing Stage Gate presentations for company Senior Management.
- Instruct Scheduler in preparation of project schedules and monitoring through planning and execution phases
- Prepare cost estimates related to elements of the various projects and monitor through planning and execution phases.
- Monitor financial status of assigned work scopes and submit meaningful and reasonably accurate forecast to complete (FTC) for the project budget forecast.
- Organize and participate in activities pertinent to project risk analysis, evaluation, remediation, and integration of data.
- Provide analysis, reports, and review of contractual requirements regarding project controls and its scheduling.
- Develop/supervise/coordinate basic and detailed engineering and define equipment required to fulfill the project systems in accordance with the design criteria as defined for the project, and in compliance with company policies and standards.
- Knowledge of industry standards for vessel design including Classification Rules, Flag and Regulatory requirements and ensuring that the project is in compliance with above regulations.
- Prepare project work packs within the required time frame with clear and concise description of the work along with accurate technical details, clearly defined material grades, and specific class and certificate requirements with support from project and engineering teams.
- Review each work pack document with the associated party (commercial/operations) as soon as possible to ensure that all parties have the same understanding as to the proposed scope of work.
- Manage work pack revisions as engineering deliverables are produced and equipment specifications are refined.
- Identify candidate vendors in consultation with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) to support projects as needed.
- Prepare vendor requests for quote with complete work scope details including required delivery date, specific vendor documentation/certification and class requirements.
- Receive and review vendor quotations and evaluate with appropriate project team members. Ensure commercial terms quoted are in accordance with project and company requirements.
- Review and approve vendors and shipyard design, drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Inspect, follow up vendors contractual commitments, work progress and expediting. Follow up class or regulation issues on equipment.
- Immediately report any changes in vendor delivery schedule to ensure project schedule and cash flow implications are addressed.
- Supervise and manage contractors/shipyard to ensure the efficient implementation of the company's work scope specifications, standards, customer standards and regulatory standards.
- Make every effort to ensure the work scope is completed fit for purpose and within budget and consider outside of the box solutions.
- Ensure all project reference data, important communications and technical and vendor documentation and reports are incorporated into the vessel management system following completion of the project.
- Support vessel technical superintendent during shipyard period as required. This may include remote support, project engineer support or full attendance during the execution phase.
- Create project close out report to track project details, HSE records, schedule and budget.
- May require international travel to shipyards to attend and participate in drydocking and repairs.
- Interface and direct contact inside and outside the project team with areas such as engineering, operations, and business development.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors in Engineering

Experience in managing the projects for ship upgrades to vessel systems

10+ years of experience in FSRU operations, offshore oil and gas industry, OR marine sector with shipyard project management experience

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and AutoCAD

Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Proficiency in MS Project or Primavera

Certifications from recognized project management organizations

Experience in LNG related operations
